Job Description
Under the direction of the Shop Lead, the Fire Extinguisher Technician will be responsible to learn & carry out the following:
- Hydrostatic testing/drying of low-pressure cylinders (up to 700 psi)
- Hydrostatic testing/drying of high-pressure cylinders (10,000 psi)
- Maintenance of hydro test devices, clean agent & CO2 pumps
- Refurbishing, hydro testing/drying, filling of Dry Chemical, CO2, clean agent extinguishers
- Dispose of extinguishers as required
- Documentation of all extinguishers & hoses coming in/out for servicing
- Shipping & receiving of hoses to be tested/finished to/from vendor
- Serve customers at the counter
- Receive/process payment from customers
- Forklift moves
- Facility Maintenance as required
- All other shop duties as required
Requirements
- Good mechanical ability
- Physically fit
- Repeatedly able to lift 50 lbs
- Squatting, bending, standing, twisting on a daily basis
- Valid class 5 driver’s license
- Good communication skills, both verbal, written, emails
- Fluent in English
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Forklift certification an asset
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma.
- Computer skills and familiarity with commonly used office programs.
- Experience with use of hand tools
- Good record keeping
