With the change of seasons, it’s a good time to check some things off of your to-do list of annual tasks! One task that is often looked over, but is incredibly important is the task of checking your household appliances to avoid electrical fires. Don’t fall into the “it won’t happen to me!” attitude – keep your house and family safe by checking your appliances this fall season!
Electrical appliances in the home, plugs, cables, and old or poor quality wiring can be a real danger to your home. Remember that not all fire risks have a flame – electrical fires are a common cause of house fires.
At least once per year, it is a good idea to check all electrical appliances in your home for wear and tear that may cause an electrical fire. Look at the following when checking over your electrical appliances:
- Plugs and sockets
- Cables and leads
- Fuses
- Appliances
When checking over these household items, look for wear and tear that may lead to an electrical fire. Appliances that have you concerned should be fixed or replaced immediately – you never know when is too late to avoid a fire with a faulty appliance.
Keep your home and family safe this fall by checking over your household appliances to be sure they are not a risk for electrical fires. Make a habit of competing this task – and have a better peace of mind, knowing that your appliances are low risk.
