Who needs a fire safety plan

According to the fire code, a fire safety plan is required for any building:

  • Used for assembly, care or detention;
  • Specified by the building code to have a fire alarm system;
  • That stores or handles flammable or combustible liquids;
  • Where hazardous processes or operations occur;
  • Or for demolition and construction sites.

What is a Fire Safety Plan?

Firefighters and building occupants use a fire safety plan to assist them in evacuating a building and extinguishing a fire. Every plan outlines emergency procedures, the duties and training of supervisory staff, maintenance of fire equipment, and other vital information regarding the safety of your building and its occupants in the case of fire.
